We proudly present the “Iris ensata Collection – Large-Flowered Elegance”, a selection that brings the serene beauty of Japanese gardens into your own. These majestic irises are celebrated for their large, silky blooms – like delicate watercolor paintings unfolding above the water. Each variety captures a different mood, blending grace, color, and timeless charm that makes any garden feel like a living artwork.

This collection includes:
1 × Iris ensata ‘Cascade Crest’ – royal purple blooms with a soft white center and gently ruffled edges
1 × Iris ensata ‘Persephone’ – soft pink petals that fade elegantly into lavender tones
1 × Iris ensata ‘Tub Tim Grob’ – deep magenta flowers with fine veining and an exotic presence
1 × Iris ensata ‘Frosted Intrigue’ – cool violet-blue blossoms with a pearly sheen and delicate white highlights

Together, they create a garden symphony of color and elegance – a serene, dreamlike scene inspired by traditional Japanese artistry. Perfect for pond edges or moist borders, where their reflection doubles the beauty of every bloom.

How to grow Japanese iris

Iris ensata is a full-sun iris growing naturally in open wet fields in eastern Asia. Iris ensata has a vertical growth habit like most other iris species. Its large flowers come in different shades of blue. It needs to be grown in an acid humus-rich soil, with regular watering between early March and the end of July. Iris ensata can be planted in a sunny place in the garden, at the banks of a pond or slow flowing streams, or in wet places that are not flooded during the winter. It may prove necessary to cover the young plants through the first winter (with mulch, straw or bark shavings etc.) especially in the case of late planting.
