Bohemia Hosta

Bohemia hostas were introduced by the well-known Czech hosta collector and hosta expert Vladimír Mirka from Kladno (Czech Republic). Vladimír is a hosta collector and his collection includes more than 1300 cultivars of these perennials. He has been growing plants as an amateur gardener for over 55 years, and has been planting hostas since about 2005. He breeds and tests his own hosta cultivars in his own garden, and names and registers the best cultivars in the American Host Society (AHS). Vladimir chosen the name Bohemia for his cultivars. He wanted to emphasize that they have been hybridized in the heart of Europe, in a region called Bohemia. In his breeding program, he focuses mainly on streaked hostas, but also on those with a two-colored leaf (the edge and center of the leaf are differently colored). Bohemia cultivars grow well and bloom richly in Central European conditions. There are several Bohemia cultivars in our offer, and we are proud to be an exclusive seller for few of them.
