It makes dense clumps. On the ends of the stems grow up golden yellow bracts that protect tiny yellow flowers. It flowers in April. It is during the spring very nice in combination with spring bulbs or hostas. It requires sunny habitats. It's undemanding perennial that loves well-drained, drier soils. It is native to Europe, grows along edges of forests.
